Latasia Cox: From Storyteller to Brand Strategist and Business Owner

Who Is Latasia Cox?

Latasia has always known the impact of a well-told story. Her journey from wide-eyed child to savvy brand strategist is a testament to the power of words and the influence of her grandmother’s wisdom.

As a self-proclaimed “Jackie of all trades” in the marketing world, Latasia brings a unique blend of creativity and strategic thinking to every project. But her true superpower? The ability to captivate audiences, whether through a well-crafted tagline or a compelling brand story.

This gift for storytelling, recognized early by her grandmother, has been the guiding star of Latasia’s professional path. Now, we invite you to explore how childhood dreams can blossom into a thriving career—and how the art of storytelling can transform brands and businesses alike.

From Childhood Dreams to Professional Realities

Latasia’s love for storytelling manifested early on as a child. By the age of 10, she had already written and illustrated her first book. Her passion for writing only grew, leading her to study creative writing, linguistics, and English in college.

The literary world called to her initially, with dreams of becoming a literary agent. But after a stint in the world of publishing, she realized long-form editing wasn’t her passion. A brief time into the magazine industry further solidified this, as the industry’s networking demands clashed with her natural introversion and desires. However, these experiences weren’t in vain; they guided her to marketing, where she discovered a new love—crafting brand stories.

The Pivot to Marketing

As blogging began to rise in popularity, Latasia found herself working with a travel publishing company, covering festivals and helping clients develop their blogs. This experience opened the door to a career in marketing, where she found her niche in content strategy and brand storytelling. Over the years, she worked with a diverse range of organizations, from small family-owned businesses to large corporations, honing her skills and defining her focus.

By the time the 2020 pandemic hit, Latasia had already made significant strides in her career. However, like many others, she was laid off. This unexpected turn of events pushed her into entrepreneurship—a move she hadn’t planned but was more than prepared for. Mentors and former supervisors quickly connected her with clients in need of her expertise, and before she knew it, she was running her own business, growing her team, and helping brands find their unique stories.

“I can create marketing stories and campaigns and brand strategy and help people actually articulate what their brand story is for a living. That’s super dope.”

Finding Joy in Her Work

For Latasia, the true joy in her work comes from those “light bulb moments” during client workshops, where she guides clients to articulate their brand stories. It’s in these transformative moments, when clients see their brand’s journey come to life, that Latasia’s impact truly shines. The clarity and emotional connection that emerge are powerful, often bringing clients to tears, in shock that their brand can be seen in such a dynamic way.

But beyond these moments, Latasia is committed to making a broader impact by ensuring her services are accessible to everyone, regardless of where they are on their journey. Understanding that not everyone is ready for a full branding overhaul, Latasia is developing an email course that offers a roadmap of branding essentials. This course is tailored to specific audiences—entrepreneurs, nonprofits, and small businesses—so that by the end, participants will have the tools they need to start building their brand story. Additionally, she’s working on a brand framework workbook designed to help clients further refine their unique stories.

Latasia’s dedication to her community and her mission to make branding accessible affirms that she’s not just making a difference in her clients’ lives but also in the broader community she serves.

The Legacy Leadership Program

Latasia’s journey with The Lola and the Legacy Leadership program has been equally transformative. Drawn to the program by its focus on Black women and its long-term commitment—18 months, a rarity in leadership development—she felt a deep connection to its mission. The program’s intentionality, from selecting participants to designing the curriculum, resonated with her on a personal level.

“Knowing all of the things that come with being a Black woman in this world… you’re gonna feed into that. And arm me with what I need to not just fortify myself, but with that, I’m able to do that for whoever I touch.”

Navigating the dance of career ambitions and personal growth, Latasia found in the program a rare sanctuary. Currently pregnant , she sees this experience as doubly beneficial. With each lesson learned and milestone achieved, Latasia feels she is not only shaping her own future but also nurturing the potential of her unborn daughter.

Legacy Leadership offers Latasia more than professional development. The unique confluence of personal and professional evolution has become more than just a learning experience for Latasia. It evolved into a powerful legacy she was crafting in real-time—for herself, for her impactful business, and for the little one whose life was already intertwined with this journey of empowerment.

A Relationship with The Lola

The LOLA has provided Latasia with a community she didn’t realize she needed. It’s a space where intentionality is woven into every aspect, from the design of the bathrooms to the creation of a comfortable mother’s room, which became a safe haven for Latasia during her pregnancy. The LOLA has become a second home for her—a place where she can connect with other women, share her expertise, and receive support in return.

“You meet so many amazing women from all walks of life, backgrounds, and stories, experiences, and we’re all, for the most part feeding into each other and you don’t see that in the world.”

Recent Milestones

As Framework Marketing Consulting enters its third year, Latasia has achieved a significant milestone: applying her own brand framework to her company. After years of helping clients build their brands, turning that expertise inward was a proud moment for her.

Latasia’s team has also made strides in innovation, creating custom solutions where off-the-shelf tools fell short. Their work spans from crafting unique brand narratives to developing specialized features within platforms like HubSpot.

Through these efforts, Latasia continues to expand the horizons of what’s possible for her clients. Her approach combines storytelling prowess with technical innovation, filling gaps in the market and delivering tailored solutions that truly fit each client’s needs.

This blend of personal branding success and client-focused innovation marks a new chapter in Latasia’s journey, showcasing her ability to practice what she preaches while pushing the boundaries of marketing consultancy.

Looking Ahead

Latasia’s journey is far from over. As she continues to refine her business and help others tell their stories, she’s also focused on the next chapter of her own story. With the support of The Lola and the insights gained from the Legacy Leadership program, she’s poised to make an even greater impact in the world of brand strategy and beyond.
