Empowering Women Through Community: My Summer Internship Experience at The LOLA

My name is Chase Carpenter, and I’m excited to share my incredible summer experience with you. This fall, I will be a junior at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA, majoring in Media and Design with a concentration in Advertising, and a minor in Communications. Over the past few months, I had the amazing opportunity to intern at The LOLA, a women-owned community and workspace for women in Atlanta.

The LOLA is not just a workspace; it’s a vibrant community committed to intentional inclusivity and fostering a positive environment for all women. Being part of this dynamic space has been an eye-opening experience, filled with inspiration and learning.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my internship was the chance to meet and learn from incredible women. Thank you to Dana, Lisa, and Angelica for guiding me. Each interaction with these women, with their diverse experiences and backgrounds, shared insights that have deeply influenced my approach to my personal and professional life.

A significant part of my role involved growing my event planning skills. I worked closely with The Lola’s team on various events, including the Marshalls event. This hands-on experience taught me the intricacies of organizing successful events, from planning to execution. I learned how to manage logistics, coordinate with different teams, and ensure that every event ran smoothly.

One of the projects I undertook involved exploring The LOLA’s digital platform, Mighty Networks. This platform hosts a range of digital discussions and workshops led by successful women. My task was to leverage the rapidly evolving tools of AI to repurpose these videos, making the content more accessible and engaging for audiences beyond their current members.

Above all, my time at The LOLA has taught me the profound importance of community and women empowerment. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity and look forward to applying what I’ve learned in my future endeavors.

I’m excited to continue growing and contributing to spaces that value inclusivity and empowerment, just like The Lola.

Thank you to Dana & Lisa for leading & guiding me this summer.

Feel free to connect with me—perhaps a marketing or social media internship in Atlanta could be on the horizon for next summer!
