I began my career in education as a teacher, which later led me to acquire knowledge in SEL (Social Emotional Learning)- I worked as a coach my last couple of years in the field. I enjoyed this work because it really spoke to my teaching philosophy- understanding the whole child, and providing services that supported their emotional well-being.
I trained in fitness for 15+ years, competing in my first body-building show in 2016. I always had a love for fitness and helping others, so I went on the gain PT certifications while working full time in my career. My training coach at the time, Tissili Rogers, really inspired me to further this work. She gave me opportunities to coach as her assistant, as well as her corporate wellness efforts.
In December of 2019, I decided to pursue coaching full-time. My daughter was then a senior in high school, and I was ready to take the leap. Of course, I was met with the pandemic shortly after, but I truly believed I made the right decision and there was no turning back.
I’m currently building my coaching business, e-commerce store, as well as creatively working on different projects. My goal is to be the first multi-millionaire in my family.
What activities take up most of your time each week and which areas of your life would you like to give more time and energy to?
Currently, social media marketing takes up the bulk of my time as this is crucial when building brand awareness. I’d like to put more time and energy into learning and reading. I’m building my schedule out now to be able to reflect more time for this in the near future.
What wellness practices are a part of your daily/weekly life that help to keep you feeling balanced and grounded?
So meditation, mindfulness, mindful movement are my go-to’s each and every day all day.
How does hustle culture make you feel and has stress had any negative impact on your life? If so, how?
Honestly, the culture of hustle has been with me since my youth.
I do believe it had an impact on my emotional state- so those not-so-great experiences, relationships, and erroneous beliefs as it relates to wealth were some of the areas that really ‘grow’ through.
In an ideal world, what would a truly balanced and healthy life “ideally” look like to you, if there were no parameters put around it?
How do you feel in this moment of the pandemic? How has it impacted your mental health and wellbeing. Has the pandemic changed how you view wellness in your life and have you made any changes to your lifestyle over the past 18 months?
I’m optimistic at this point.
I’ve learned more about myself and it keeps me wanting to do and be more-really walking in my purpose. I lived a wellness forward lifestyle before the pandemic, so these last 18months have given me more of it-grateful.
Do you have any hopes (or personal plans) for a permanent shift in the way we work and live moving forward?
Yes. As a health and wellness coach, I had no clue how things were going to shift in our industry as all the gyms closed. So I began working to build an online program that I believe will reach more individuals in a more effective and efficient way. I believe this shift is needed and allows for all of us to just slow down, breathe, and be.
